25th annual hockey tourney is this weekend

The 25th annual Return of the Robin hockey tournament will begin Friday in Rochester, with 36

teams entered from all over the Midwest.

Organizer Norm Fitch said up to 400 players will compete, starting with games at 6 p,m, Friday at the Rochester Recreation Center and

 Graham Arena and at 7 p,m, at Four Seasons Arena in Kasson,

This is a non-checking event that is a tradition in Rochester after the high school and college hockey seasons have ended, It draws players of all ages, and

plenty of good players, A large number of former professional and college players always participate.

"There are a lot of Rochester players," said Fitch, who added there is a rumor that the popular

ShjonPodein might show up, Podein just completed a season on a pro team in Japan as player­ coach,

There will be championship games Sunday at 2 p.m. and 3:30 p,m, at the Recreation Center. There is no admission for any of the games all weekend.

  •   Open Division: Davies Printing of Rochester, which defeated Landon Trophy of Rochester in the championship,

  •   Open Division (Select): Ice Clams defeated Ice Rams.

  •   Franks Division (age 30 and above): Hangar Bar of Rochester def, Willey G's of Rochester in championship

  •   Amundson Division: Winning Edge of Waterloo, Iowa.Hudson Division: General Pump, from the Twin Cities

  •    Hudson Division: General Pump from the twin cities

  • Walters Division: Bakers Bearing from the Twin Cities

  • Fossil Division: Hoffman-Strauss from the Twin Cities
