New organizers happy with Return of Robin

Brett Landon was exhausted but pleased late Sunday night,
Landon, along with fellow
Rochester residents Jim McPeak Jay Sathers and Myron Salz had spent
most of the past month preparing for their first go-around as
organizers of the Return of the Robin amateur hockey tournament, |

And when the final buzzer
sounded on Sunday, they were able to declare the tournament a
success and were able to finally take a breather, |

"It went very well, no
complaints from anyone," Landon said, "Our volunteers were fantastic
and the tournament was great, really clean play," |
|
Landon said between 300 and 400 people showed up for a fish fry
Saturday in the Rec Center parking lot, and he said the tournament
raised some money for Rochester Youth Hockey through a silent
auction, |

Forty teams competed this year, a record number for the tournament,
Tournament champions were crowned in seven division on Sunday at the
Rec Center |

Mickey's Irish Pub of Rochester defeated Best Western for the title
in Open Division I, the top level of play in the tournament.

Peak Performance won the Open Division II title over Landon Trophy, |

In the 30-plus Division I championship game, the Musty Clams
defeated the Black Bears. All other divisions were pool play Center Trophy of Nebraska won the 30-Plus Mixed Division; The Old Timers won the 40-Plus Division; Metro Merchants captured the championship of the Fossils Division; and Off in the Woods beat all-comers in Division III, which is a novice division.
